The present study is a thorough taxonomic investigation on the Burdigalian ostracods from the North Alpine Foreland Basin (NAFB). The authors identified 44 species of which 17 species were previously unknown from the Burdigalian deposits of the NAFB. All 44 species are described and, with one exception, illustrated. The new data are important for a comprehensive understanding of the palaeogeographic and ecological conditions in the middle Burdigalian sea of the Molasse Basin and Central Paratethys realm.
